AgriSpin and EIP-AGRI : Agriculture Innovation at work

AgriSpin and EIP-AGRI : Agriculture Innovation at work

Far from all innovation processes succeed. In fact, many go awry even before they begin. So what makes an innovation process move forward? And what stops it? The EU-project “AgriSpin – Space for Innovations in Agriculture” seeks to find the answers to those questions and many more by identifying best practices for innovation and support systems in European agriculture.

The EU AgriSpin project (2015-2017) examines the practice of innovation today by answering questions such as: How does the European farmer seek information and support? What competencies does he expect of his adviser? What kind of support system is in place today? By doing so, AgriSpin intends to uncover best cases for innovation and identify the type of innovation support system that makes for the most optimal innovation process.

AgriSpin LinkedIn page reports the current activities (cross visits, innovative technologies, case studies, etc.).

The EIP-AGRI brings together innovation actors (farmers, advisers, researchers, businesses, NGOs and others) at EU level and within the rural development programmes. Together they form an EU-wide EIP network. EIP Operational Groups are project-based and tackle a certain (practical) problem or opportunity which may lead to an innovation. The Operational Group approach makes the best use of different types of knowledge (practical, scientific, technical, organisational, etc.) in an interactive way. An Operational Group is composed of those key actors that are in the best position to realise the project’s goals, to share implementation experiences and to disseminate the outcomes broadly.

Those two platforms offer networking and knowledge sharing that can inspire any agriculture innovators, even those based in OCTs.

Montserrat – Sustainable Development Plan 2008-2020

Montserrat – Sustainable Development Plan 2008-2020

The Sustainable Development Plan (SDP) for Montserrat 2008-2020 outlines the vision of the residents of Montserrat, the agreed core values, the development strategies which will be followed in pursuit of the vision, as well as the action plan for the first five years of the long term planning horizon.

The clearly defined goals, outcomes, and strategies, contained in the Plan are all critical for creating “a healthy and wholesome Montserrat”.

The Plan also provides the Government and people of Montserrat with the framework for public and private sector participation for the development of the island over the period 2008-2020.

This Plan was developed out of a consultative, consensus building process, using the views, ideas and opinions from a wide cross-section of the society and will be implemented by all Montserratians – from government ministries and departments, business leaders, communities and villages, our children, our Diaspora, the international development partners and most importantly you.
