Innovation Strategies and Actions Plans have been worked out. To implement them, the Innovation projects have been foreseen. Innovation projects are a mechanism to start implementing innovation in concurrence with the Innovation strategies. Innovation projects are an Innovation Tool.
The goal of Innovation projects is to support the implementation of the most promising and innovative ideas, innovative modalities of organisation, and implementation of the advanced innovative technologies in Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs).
Pilot Projects (PP)
Pilot Projects allow the transfer of knowledge and experiences from EU-Member State regions, from the (outermost) regions of the EU Member States and occasionally from one to another OCT. Pilot Projects have a budget up to 200.000€ with an European Development Fund (EDF) grant contribution up to 80% of the total budget. Duration of the Pilot Projects varies from 12 to 18 months. Nine OCTs were awarded a grant for a Pilot Project contracted by the Association of Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTA) and funded by the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO). These Pilot Projects are currently under execution.
Small Innovation Projects (SIP)
Small Innovation Projects with a value less than 10.000€ have been initiated as steps of the implementation of the Innovation Strategy for the OCTs which did not get above-mentioned Innovation Pilot Projects.
All key stakeholders, both public and private, from the Overseas Countries and Territories are eligible to benefit having a Small Innovation Project. The Small Innovation Project should be small capacity-building innovation-boosting project and it could be training, missions, technical assistance, studies or similar soft support. The small capacity-building innovation-boosting project has a foreseen duration between 3 and 8 months.
