Workshop in Montserrat
Greenhouses are the most secure way how to increase benefits of the local agriculture, and reduce importation. Therefore there was strong interest in Monserrat. The country would have good opportunity by developing pineapple (organic production with support of CIRAD from Martinique). In fact before volcano erupted in the end of the nineties there was a lot of pineapples production. Providing water storage is developed it could be possible to re-launch such a crop on very fertile ashes soil close to Plymouth (old capital). A mission to Costa Rica could be useful for identifying the best varieties and accessing young plants.
